Season 3 of Call of Duty is in full swing for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, and in addition to new maps, modes, and weapons, the new season also brings more shop bundles. However, players were quick to notice that some of Season 3’s new bundles appear to be based on versions of older cosmetics from Warzone 1.
This new season of Call of Duty includes a killer Easter bunny bundle, a Ghost operator pack, the Dr. Kushlov Tracer Pack, and more. Unfortunately, players are already pointing out that some items in these packs are so similar to cosmetics cosmetics from past games.
As Call of Duty content creator PrestigeIsKey has pointed out on Twitter in a side-by-side comparison, the new Dr. Kushlov skin for the Gromsko operator is just a slightly modified stoner version of the Dr. Karlov operator skin from Modern Warfare 2019 and Warzone 1. Even the operator’s Vaporizer weapon blueprint for the Kastov-762 assault rifle is nearly identical to the rifle blueprint originally featured with Dr. Karlov.
Some were quick to comment on the tweeted comparison, pointing out that the Ghost skin featured in the Classic Ghost Pack bundle is also nearly identical to the one in Modern Warfare 2019’s Ghost Pack Contingency bundle.
This recycling of cosmetics probably stings most for those who purchased the original version of the skins, as all of the old Warzone 1 cosmetics were left behind and unable to transfer to Warzone 2. Players can still use the old items they purchased, but they’d need to return to the old Call of Duty game they purchased it from or Warzone Caldera.
Season 3’s bundles recently fell under scrutiny after some cosmetics were called out for offering pay-to-win advantages for DMZ mode. Additionally, the most recent update for Season 3 added an improvement to Warzone 2’s Buy Station, changes to the battle pass, and more.
