New Wo Long Fallen Dynasty Update 1.08 Adds DLSS, FSR2 & XeSS Support; Devs Aware of GPU Launch Issues

Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have released Wo Long Fallen Dynasty update 1.08 across all platforms, packing new features, bug fixes, and DLSS/FSR2/XeSS support.

This new update is available now across PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One, and adds new features to the game, including the new end-game mission “Crouching Dragons’ Battle Royale”. In this mode, which will become available after clearing the sub-battlefield “The Crouching Dragon’s Trial”, players will fight several bosses in a series of battles. In addition, this patch adds the Swap Martial Arts function through the Embedment menu at the Blacksmith when choosing a weapon.

Also included are numerous major bug fixes, including a fix for an issue that caused players to get stuck. For the full list of bug fixes, we suggest reading the full patch notes here.

Another interesting new addition included with this update is the promised support for NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR2, and Intel XeSS upscaling techniques.  At the point of writing, however, there appears to be a crashing issue when launching the game when playing the game on GPUs not using NVIDIA DLSS. Team Ninja has said to be aware of this issue and is planning to release a patch that addresses this issue.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is available globally now for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Here’s what we wrote about the game in our launch review:

“With this in mind, there’s little doubt that with Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Team NINJA wanted to make a more accessible experience, providing players with more tools to tailor the challenge level to their skill level without having set difficulty settings”, Francesco de Meo wrote back in March of this year. “One new mechanic lifted from Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin that can make going through Ancient China and the hordes of demons infesting it easier are AI companions. During most main quests and a few optional ones, one or more characters will join the player as the story dictates, helping them deal with enemies with decent competence. In boss battles, AI companions are mostly used to take the heat off the player, so players will still have to do most of the hard work themselves. In cases AI companions are not assigned automatically to the player, it is possible to recruit them at Battle Flags spending Tiger Seal items, and deepening the Oath Level with each of them will reward the player with some unique equipment. Those who don’t want any AI companion can easily dismiss the ones assigned to them for story reasons by using the Withering Branch item.”
