Prior to Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Charles Barkley and Grant Hill were spotted wearing oxygen masks inside Denver’s arena.
Naturally, publications wrote up articles about Barkley and Hill sporting oxygen masks before the Heat and Nuggets even took the floor.
For example, The Daily Caller put out a headline that read, “Charles Barkley And Grant Hill Forced To Use Oxygen Masks To Combat Denver Altitude During NBA Finals Pregame Show.”
Sportskeeda, on the other hand, used the following headline: “Watch: Charles Barkley and Grant Hill struggle to breathe in Denver ahead of Game 1 of the NBA Finals.”

Thankfully, Barkley and Hill were just wearing oxygen masks for a TV segment.
In fact, Barkley argued that Denver’s altitude doesn’t present an issue for athletes.
“Every time they mention it, I think it’s the stupidest thing ever,” Barkley said. “I don’t believe it’s true…These guys are the best athletes in the world, the notion that breathing is gonna dictate who wins, like I said, if that was the case, the Nuggets would have been – this is the first time they’ve ever been to the Finals! And all of a sudden now, altitude matters? Give me a damn break!”

Contrary to what Barkley said, the altitude in Denver is playing a factor. The Nuggets are undefeated at home this postseason.
Game 2 of the NBA Finals will take place on Sunday night.
