A preliminary investigation found that the front of Ruggs’ Chevrolet Corvette collided with the back of the other vehicle, a Toyota Rav4, and resulted in the death of a person in the Toyota, though the investigation is still active, according to the police.
The police said that Ruggs “remained on scene and showed signs of impairment” before going to a local hospital to treat non-life-threatening injuries.
Ruggs is a second-year player on the Las Vegas Raiders and was drafted 12th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft following a college football career at the University of Alabama.
If convicted of the DUI resulting in death felony charge, Ruggs would face a prison sentence between two and 20 years, per the Wall Street Journal.

How Ruggs will be disciplined by the NFL or the Raiders. The Raiders, who told ESPN they are “aware” of the incident but are “in the process of gathering information,” will play the New York Giants Sunday.
