Key Facts
Responding to a question about the three people dead or alive that he would most want to invite to dinner, Allen named Hitler, explaining: “He’s a military genius and I love military tactics but honestly I would want to pick his brain as to why he did what he did. I’m also assuming that the people I’ve chosen have to answer all my questions honestly.”
Allen’s other guests were singer Michael Jackson and his grandfather.
Allen deleted the tweets at about 2:45 p.m., but Forbes screenshotted the posts.
Crucial Quote
Allen, who played in Sunday’s Pro Bowl, issued an apology tweet Wednesday afternoon: “Early I tweeted something that probably hurt people and I apologize about what I said. I didn’t express properly what I was trying to say and I realize it was dumb!”
Surprising Fact
Former NFL All-Pro DeSean Jackson was widely criticized in 2020 for posting a quote to Instagram he falsely attributed to Hitler that asserted Jews seek to “blackmail America” and oppress Black Americans. He later apologized, saying he didn’t intend to offend Jews and he knows Hitler “was a bad person.”
