On Friday, the NBA announced that Grizzlies star Ja Morant has been suspended 25 games for his behavior off the court.
“Ja Morant’s decision to once again wield a firearm on social media is alarming and disconcerting given his similar conduct in March for which he was already suspended eight games,” NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement. “The potential for other young people to emulate Ja’s conduct is particularly concerning. Under these circumstances, we believe a suspension of 25 games is appropriate and makes clear that engaging in reckless and irresponsible behavior with guns will not be tolerated.”
Even though Morant’s recent actions have been quite alarming, Nike won’t cut ties with him.
In fact, Nike announced Friday that it’ll support Morant as he tries to get back on the right track.
“We are pleased that Ja is taking accountability and prioritizing his well-being,” Nike said. “We will continue to support him on and off the court.”

Morant’s relationship with Nike dates back to 2019. Earlier this year, the shoe company released the “Ja 1’s.”
If Morant fails to learn from his mistakes, Nike may strongly consider ending their partnership. For now though, the All-Star guard will continue to be sponsored by Nike.
