Denver Nuggets star big man Nikola Jokic is on top of the basketball world right now. And fresh off of his first NBA title, the two-time MVP has seemingly made a decision on the upcoming FIBA World Cup.
According to reports, the Joker won’t be participating in the games for his native Team Serbia, although no further details have been revealed just yet.

However, due to the Nuggets’ Finals run, it’s easy to speculate that Jokic’s decision has more to do with rest than anything else.
This past season was the longest of the five-time All-Star’s career and he has made it clear that basketball isn’t something that dominates the majority of his life. It’s just something that he’s good at.
Jokic infamously didn’t even want to attend Denver’s championship parade. Saying, he needed to get back to Serbia to be with his family and, of course, his beloved horses.
His absence obviously deals a massive blow to the Serbian roster. Bogdan Bogdanovic reportedly tried to convince Jokic to participate but to no avail.
The team’s official participants are expected to be revealed on Monday with the World Cup set to begin next month across the Phillipines, Japan and Indonesia.
