To nobody’s surprise, Nikola Jokić received the Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP award after leading the Denver Nuggets to their first NBA title in franchise history. Hopefully it’s somewhere secure now to give out next year.
After reaching the NBA mountaintop, Jokić conducted an interview with Malika Andrews. The ESPN broadcaster noted that other Finals MVP winners brought the trophy with them.
Jokić admitted that he was unsure of the trophy’s whereabouts. He last left it in the room of Nuggets equipment manager Sparky Gonzales.
“I really don’t know,” Jokić said. “I left it in Sparky’s room, and he’s not there anymore. So, I don’t know.”

Once Denver dispatched the Miami Heat, there was no question the trophy belonged to Jokić. The center posted a double-double in all five NBA Finals games, averaging 30.2 points and 14.0 rebounds.
Jokić has celebrated the championship triumph in his own subdued manner. While he’s eager to set back to Serbia, it may not be as vital for the trophy to come with him.
Everyone could receive an update on the trophy’s location during Thursday’s parade.
