Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid won the 2023 NBA MVP Award, but not everyone agreed with it.
A lot of fans and media members think that the award should’ve gone to Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic as he’s been an absolute machine this season.
When Jokic was asked about it, he thinks the voters got it right.
“I don’t think about MVPs anymore,” Jokić said, via The Comeback.
“I mean, I think it’s — people are just mean in saying that Embiid shouldn’t have won it. I think he should have won it. I think he was playing, if you watch it, extremely, extremely tough basketball through [the] whole season … He was really amazing in 82 games or how many games he played.”
Jokic also likely doesn’t care much about it since his team is on its way to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history.
He’d much rather have the title than the MVP Award.
