Nintendo has finally confirmed plans to hold its first Direct conference of 2022 – and heads up, it’s going to be a big one! Running for approximately 40 minutes, the next Nintendo Direct takes place at 10pm UK time on February 9. Needless to say, the Nintendo Direct presentation will be broadcast live on all the usual platforms, although you can watch the stream without going anywhere. Just hit play on the YouTube embed below for all the news on soon-to-be-released Switch games. The news was announced by Nintendo on Twitter: “Tune in on Wednesday 9th February at 22.00 UK time for a Nintendo Direct livestream featuring roughly 40 minutes of information mainly focused on Nintendo Switch games launching in the first half of 2022.”
While Nintendo will mainly focus on games coming out in the first half of 2022, the wording of the tweet suggests the company will also reveal more about games coming in the latter stages of the year.
This means we could hear more about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, as well as Bayonetta 3 and maybe even the new Metroid Prime.
Elsewhere, recent leaks and rumours suggest Nintendo is getting ready to unveil a brand new entry in the Mario Kart series.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the best-selling Nintendo Switch game of all time, so a sequel would be absolutely huge. Nintendo insider Zippo – who successfully leaked info about Persona 4 Ultimax – said that a Mario Kart 9 reveal is imminent, so make sure you tune in to find out.
Other rumours suggest a new Fire Emblem game will be announced, alongside more details about Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
If you’ve been keeping up with the news, you’ll also be aware of the reports that Goldeneye 007 is about to make a return. Whether it comes to Switch, however, remains to be seen.
Finally, Nintendo Switch owners will be desperate to hear more about Hollow Knight Silksong, which has been MIA for quite some time.

As for the games featuring in the February 2022 Nintendo Direct, Switch owners are almost certain to hear more about Triangle Strategy, Splatoon 2, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and Advance Wars.
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is a remake of the first two Game Boy Advance titles.
“Command an army in strategic, turn-based combat as a tactical adviser for the Orange Star Army. Your expertise is needed as you move land, air and naval units across the battlefield.
“Take down enemy squads and capture towns and bases to secure victory and keep the peace. Keep an eye on the game-changing terrain and weather as you lead a variety of units across multiple maps. This remake features two campaigns that cover the events of Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising!”
