Kolkata Knight Riders’ slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League match against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday has cost the visiting team’s skipper, Nitish Rana, Rs 24 lakh as fine.
“As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Rana has been fined Rs. 24 lakh and each member of the Playing XI, including the impact substitute, is fined Rs. 6 lakh or 25 percent of the match fee, whichever is lesser,” the statement from IPL read.

Kolkata managed to stun CSK, who are usually unbeatable in home conditions at Chepauk.
The six-wicket win has kept KKR’s playoff hopes alive, while CSK remain No. 2 on the points table despite the defeat.
