The recent BBC documentary, “India: The Modi Question”, which explores the involvement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2002 Gujarat riots, has sparked outrage both in India and abroad. Whereas the Indian government banned the series, claiming it reflected a “continuing colonial mindset”, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi supported the documentary saying, “The truth always comes out.”
In this scenario, an image of Rahul Gandhi is being circulated on social media with the claim that the Congress conspiracy is behind the documentary on PM Modi, claiming that Rahul Gandhi met the documentary’s producer during his visit to the UK last year.

Fact Check-
By performing a simple reverse image search on Google yielded multiple media reports about this meeting published in May 2022. According to the reports, the photo is from Rahul Gandhi’s 2022 meeting with Britain’s then Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn and Indian investor Sam Pitroda in London.
As per reports Rahul Gandhi’s meeting with Corbyn had at the time sparked a war of words between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress. The BJP criticised Gandhi for meeting Corbyn and allegedly endorsing the latter’s “anti-India” views. The Congress defended this by sharing pictures of the Labour leader with PM Modi.
In further search we discovered the picture was also shared by the Twitter account of the Indian Overseas Congress on 23 May, 2022.
Next, we checked the credits of the controversial documentary “India: The Modi Question,” the first episode of which aired on BBC on17 January, 2023. We found that the series producer was Richard Cookson and executive producer Mike Radford.
Later we conducted a keyword search for “Rahul Gandhi Richard Cookson Mike Radford,” which yielded no relevant results or photos of such a meeting. And we could not find any credible information about Corbyn’s involvement with the controversial BBC documentary on Modi.

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral image to be False. The people in the viral image with Rahul Gandhi are Britain’s former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn and Indian investor Sam Pitroda.
