Emma Norsgaard held off a fast-finishing chasing pack to win a thrilling stage six of the women’s Tour de France.
The Danish Movistar rider finished just metres ahead of the peloton in a tight sprint on Friday, crossing the line first at the end of the 122.5km route from Albi to Blagnac in a time of two hours 15 minutes and 17 seconds.
Charlotte Kool finished second, just one second behind, with overall race leader Lotte Kopecky taking third.
A number of Kopecky’s main rivals for the general classification were slowed by a crash just over one kilometre from the finish.
The Belgian now leads by 54 seconds from Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, with Annemiek van Vleuten, Elisa Longo Borghini and Kasia Niewiadoma a second further back.
