North Carolina teacher accused of sexually abusing teen couldn’t keep away: Cops

For a former North Carolina science teacher accused of having sex with one of her students, it appears that the heart wants what the heart wants.

Facing two dozen criminal charges stemming from a sexual relationship with an underage teen boy, it seems Elizabeth Bailey, 37, once again let her emotions get the better of her.

Cops say that Bailey was involved in a car crash outside Statesville, N.C., last weekend. Along for the ride were two underage boys.

When cops arrived, the teenagers split, leaving Bailey holding the bag, allegedly plastered in the front passenger seat. She told cops that she let the unlicensed teen drive, police said.

Officers discovered that as part of her bail, she had been ordered to stay away from the teen. Bailey was arrested on charges of violating her pre-trial release along with new charges for delinquency of a minor and misdemeanor charge of allowing an unlicensed driver to drive.

Bailey had been a popular science teacher at Northview Academy in the Iredell-Statesville School District when she was arrested in August 2022.

After she was busted, the school board suspended her and she resigned two months later.

Bailey was charged with felony statutory rape of a child 15 or younger, felony indecent liberties with a child and felony sex offence with a student.

She was given an electronic monitor and released on a $75,000 bond.

But it appears the teacher was in love with love and one week after she was arrested, Bailey was allegedly at it again with the boy and charged with felony statutory sex offense with a child under 15 and a misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She was given a $50,000 bond.

Three weeks later, in an alleged Mary Kay Letourneau-like move, she was arrested again on 19 charges, including violating her pretrial release, nine counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor and nine counts of felony intimidating or interfering with a state’s witness.
