Craig Piligian, the owner of North Hollywood-based TV production company Pilgrim Media Group knows what makes a good story, and when he heard one in real life that wasn’t destined to have a happy ending, he turned to a Tinseltown classic — the Hollywood rewrite.
Or in this case, the North Hollywood rewrite.
More than 10 years ago, Piligian, whose company produces programming that includes “American Chopper, “Ghost Hunters” and “The Ultimate Fighter,” heard a news story about thieves breaking into a Toys R Us warehouse and stealing thousands of toys meant for needy kids.
Piligian couldn’t let it end that way.
In order to flip the script, Piligian and his company began donating thousand of dollars worth of toys every holiday season — something they’ve continued to do for more than 10 years.
This year, Tom Shannon, vice president of techhnical operations for Pilgrim Media, presented their huge haul of unwrapped toys to the firefighters at Fire Station 60 at Chandler Boulevard and Tujunga Avenue in the NoHo Arts District for the LAFD’s Spark of Love Toy Drive.
Members of the public who wish to support Spark of Love can make an online donation at http://supportlafd.kindful.com, or drop off a new, unwrapped toy at their local Subaru dealership.
