Temperatures are soaring across the UK, with most towns and cities seeing thermometers stay above 20C for the past few weeks.
With sunny weather set to continue for the coming days and weeks, many Britons will be out and about in their cars for leisure.
However, experts are warning road users that they must be careful when driving and ensure safety is always at the top of their minds.
One specific rule could see motorists hit with an on-the-spot fine for a little-known ventilation rule.
According to Confused.com, drivers with their windows closed and no air conditioning on a warm day could result in consequences.

Louise Thomas, motor insurance expert at Confused.com, said: “Not using air-con or putting the window down in hot weather could see drivers break the Highway Code, as motorists must keep their cars ‘well-ventilated’.
“This rule helps to ensure drivers avoid drowsiness when in control of a car and breaking this rule could result in an on-the-spot fine if you are deemed to be driving carelessly or involved in an accident as a result of poor ventilation.
“This is because an overheated car can cause drowsiness, which puts the driver in an unsafe driving state.”
Drivers must have complete control over their vehicles at all times, ideally by keeping their cars well-ventilated.
If this is not adhered to, drivers could become drowsy at the wheel and, in extreme cases, be hit with a £1,000 fine for careless driving.
In the event that this led to an accident where someone was seriously injured, the punishment could be raised to a £5,000 fine and nine penalty points on their licence.
Louise Thomas also warned that summer often sees more accidents on the road than at other times of the year.
This could be down to heavier traffic levels with more people travelling or even road conditions from the high temperatures.
While the sunny weather is a welcome change for many Britons, experts are urging drivers to wear suitable eye protection for visibility.
Having the correct eyewear and enough ventilation in the car will help drivers stay alert and focused on the road ahead.
Louise Thomas added: “If the worst were to happen and you break a traffic offence that causes an accident, your insurer may not pay out.
“For peace of mind, you should always check your car insurance policy before setting off for any journey this summer.”
