Nottingham Forest have continued to recruit despite the transfer window being shut by pipping Everton for free agent Andre Ayew.

The 33-year-old was having a medical yesterday after agreeing a short-term deal to become Forest’s 29th signing since winning promotion back to the Premier League last May.

Ayew has spent the last two years playing in Qatar but was without a club following his exit from Al Sadd.

He played under Forest boss Steve Cooper during his second spell with Swansea and also spent two years at West Ham.

Ayew adds to Forest’s striking options while Morgan Gibbs-White, Taiwo Awoniyi and Jesse Lingard are struggling with injuries.

Forest signed three players on deadline day – Felipe, Jonjo Shelvey and Keylor Navas.
