Believe it or not, the Nuggets just agreed to a trade before Game 4 of the NBA Finals.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nuggets are acquiring a 2024 first-round pick, a 2024 second-round pick and the 37th pick in this year’s draft from the Thunder.
The Thunder, meanwhile, will receive a protected 2029 first-round as part of this deal.
Wojnarowski explained why Denver’s front office felt the need to make this trade.
“The Nuggets are trying to maximize their championship window and deal this picks deal gives them some additional chances at low-cost contracts and trade tools. For OKC, another first-round pick deep into the future,” Wojnarowski said.

The Nuggets already have a ton of money committed to Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon.
In theory, the Nuggets could add some “cheap talent” to their roster for the 2023-24 season.
The Thunder, on the other hand, continue to load up on future picks.
