Left Bank Brasserie: Chef Roland Passot’s fourth Paris-inspired bistro is at Jack London Square, in a sprawling 7,500-square-feet, indoor-outdoor waterfront space. Enjoy an all-day menu of French fare, from moules frites and duck confit to a raclette burger and fried chicken with Esplette honey. Rico Rico Vegano: This Lakeshore/Lower Hills taqueria is the veganized version of Rico Rico Taco, a wildly popular spot for spit-roasted al pastor. Located in the former Holy Land, Rico Rico Vegano’s all-vegan menu of tacos, burritos, quesadillas features fried cauliflower, sauteed cactus, soy chorizo, mushrooms, marinated hibiscus and so much more. Sliver Pizzeria: The sourdough pizza makers with Cheese Board Collective cred continue their East Bay takeover after a recent Lafayette opening with a new spot in Montclair. Sliver’s pizzas feature organic produce, no meat or sauce and come in creative flavors, from corn and chile pasilla, to a four-mushroom pie with fresh herbs. A seventh Sliver is headed for Fremont. Desta Ethiopian Cafe: Gluten-free teff flour injera is among the specialties at Sirgout Aga Badana’s first brick and mortar located in Piedmont and devoted to vegan Ethiopian cuisine. Fans of her Berkeley farmer’s market food can expect similar flavors, from ful to misir wot lentils in spicy beriberi sauce. Don’t miss the daily veggie sambusa and three types of Ethiopian teas. Poppy Bagels: This bagel shop made its highly-anticipated debut a month ago, bringing chewy, sought-after, New York-style bagels to Temescal.
