The Social Security Administration is now conducting a criminal investigating, a spokesperson for the Overland Park Police Department told FOX4.
Family members told FOX4 they were stunned.
“Just so confused about the whole thing. You know, how can this happen? And how can he lay there for that many years and nobody reported,” said Janet Carroll, a niece of Mike Carroll.
Investigators figured out what happened after a visit from Overland Park police in October 2022 when officers found the body on a bed.

THE CAT IN THE APP
A pet owner who lost a cat came up with a different type of idea to try to track down the feline.
The user went on Grindr and made a profile of the missing cat and registered it under the name “Missing cat,” in Brighton, England, according to Sussexexpress.com.
The cat in question was described as “goofy,” “chill” and “curious.” The dating profile oddly said the cat likes karaoke, movies and music.
It added that the feline is a 23-year-old single male, with an “average” body size, and that he is looking for “dates, relationship, right now” – and finding its way home.
Under the profile, it also said: “A bit strange, but our house cat has gone missing.
“If anyone has seen this cat, please message me to let me know, it would be great help.”
There was no word on if the cat was found.

DEPUTIES DISCIPLINED FOR FRIENDLY FIRE
Three deputies in South Carolina were disciplined after things went wrong during a training exercise.
Reports said the Greenville County deputies were on a training exercise when one got shot in the foot.
An investigation into the February incident said the deputies were training with blank rounds during a controlled exercise.
After the training exercise, deputies were securing equipment when a deputy one fired a blank round from a simulation gun at another in an act of “horseplay,” according to WSPA.com.
The second deputy responded by firing back, forgetting he had already switched back to his duty weapon, and shot the other deputy in the foot.
The injured deputy treated and released from a hospital. Both were given 10-day suspensions and will undergo remedial training.
