A post with two images clubbed together is viral on social media. While the first photograph is of a group of people in police custody, the second is a file image of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The clubbed image is being shared with the viral claim that 25 students of Allahabad University were caught making bombs in the hostel. It furthers that none of the students hailed from the Muslim community.

The post has multiple shares on Facebook and Twitter with the same viral text.

Fact-check

Alt News has previously debunked the same image shared with child-kidnapping rumours. We had fact-checked the photograph of the men in police custody and found that they were accused of being a part of a sex racket gang. They were arrested from the Lebad-Nayagaon four-lane road, Madhya Pradesh. An article on Patrika dated July 15, 2019, had reported the incident.

Alt News also contacted the Karnal Ganj Police Station, which is the closest police station to Allahabad University, to confirm if any student was arrested for “making bombs” in the hostel. SHO Sujit Singh confirmed that the claim is false.

An old image from Madhya Pradesh was, therefore, shared with the false claim that 25 non-Muslim students were arrested from Allahabad University for making bombs in the hostel.
