The viral video of a speeding train on waterlogged track is from the year 2017 at Nalasopara railway station in Mumbai. It has no link to the recent heavy rain.

As terrifying monsoonal rains ravaged the northern expanses of our country especially in Mumbai, The rainfall has reached the high level in a short span of time. Now linking to this, a video of Mumbai’s Nalasopara railway station has gone viral. Users are sharing this video as recent with the claim that Due to heavy rains Mumbai’s Nala Sopara Railway Station has been converted into a water park.

Fact Check- 

By performing a reverse image search on Google, we discovered several media reports about the incident. According to NDTV, this video was taken on the outskirts of Mumbai at the Nalasopara Station, where water had accumulated on the tracks after the rain in 2017. After the clip went viral, Railway officials reportedly denied that the train was moving at a high speed, claiming that it only seemed so because the video was shot up close.

Next, we found a news related to the viral video on India.com. Screenshots of the video have been used in this news story published on September 21, 2017. Apart from this, this news is also available on  Hindustan Times .

According to reports, the incident took place when the Virar station master forgot to inform the driver that a warning had been issued for all trains to run at a speed of 8 kmph due to heavy rains. After which this incident happened. Western Railway suspended Virar station master and express loco pilot.

The news of the viral video can also be seen on the YouTube channel of ABP Live. In a video uploaded on September 20, 2017, it was told that at Nalasopara station in Mumbai-Thane, trains ran at the speed of a bullet on water-soaked tracks.

Conclusion- 

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be Misleading. The viral video of a speeding train on water-logged tracks is from the year 2017 at Nalasopara railway station in Mumbai. The video has nothing to do with the recent heavy rains.
