It’s official: ’Tis the season of face-framing snips and French-inspired detailing. Hairstylist Mara Roszak cemented the trends today, sharing client Olivia Wilde’s light and highly stylable fringe, which Roszak dubbed “French Girl Bangs.” Wilde debuted the look at Tuesday evening’s Fashion Trust Awards—in fact, the cut was executed right before the red carpet.
“I had been thinking about giving her bangs for a bit, and we had been exchanging some texts back and forth about it,” says Roszak, who named the style for its versatility and effortlessness. “I sent her some inspiration photos, and then we finally found the right time to do it.” Roszak styled the fringe with ROZ Santa Lucia Styling Oil before blowing the sections forward and up with a medium boar bristle round brush to create a soft, easy finish.
The bangs are long, light, and, though artfully effortless, do some major work, affording the face a sculpted effect and playing well with any updo. Looking to make your season a touch more romantic? French girl bangs may be your ideal spring fling.
