Olly Murs admits he ‘could have done more’ in the Coronation Concert

The X Factor star and singer, 38, performed his 2011 number one single Dance With Me Tonight as part of a star-studded line-up of musical performances.

There were stand-out displays from Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, Steve Winwood, and Take That, who performed three of their number one hits.

Olly came to the stage second in the running order, after legendary British DJ Pete Tong played Rudimental and John Newman’s 2012 hit Feel the Love.

His rendition of Dance With Me Tonight was popular with viewers both watching at home and the 10,000 people on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

But after he came off the stage and went on social media, Olly said he wished he could have done more with the ‘honour’ that had been bestowed upon him.

Reflecting on the show, he told his followers: ‘It was fantastic. Got to meet some absolute legends. Honestly, thank you all for all your kind messages.’

He continued: ‘I’ve seen [all the messages]. I’ve just been on social media now and just thank you for all your lovely messages about my performance.’

But then he changed his tune slightly, admitting that, while he ‘loved’ putting on a show for the new king, he ‘wished [he] could have done more’.

Lionel Richie, who was named as one of the headline acts, only played two songs – one of which was Easy, a hit for Lionel’s group The Commodores.

Before the concert, Olly had already made it clear that he would be ‘honoured’ to join the list of stars invited to play music for Charles and Queen Camilla.

Appearing on GMB, he said: ‘I’m here if needed. I’m on tour, the dates work, so if the royals need me, I’m around. Lots of artists would be honoured to be singing.’
