On-Screen Celebrity Couples That Probably Won’t Work Together Again

0

These on screen couples weren’t always the perfect pair and here’s why.

Sometimes an on-screen romance is just that, an on-screen romance. But I’d lie saying I wasn’t interested in the relationships off the screens. Some have put their differences aside and have gotten married, aka Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher. And some, like Charlie Sheen and Selma Blair, won’t ever be on the same screen again.

For Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon, opposites don’t attract. Their personalities just never meshed well, and it was reported that Witherspoon hated Vaughn so much that she refused to do a sex scene in the 2008 movie, Four Christmases.

Vaughn didn’t even bother showing up to the movie premiere. Witherspoon later denied allegations that there was beef on set despite refusing to film intimate scenes with the actor.

2.

Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder’s relationship turned sour when they broke up and still had to film The Vampire Diaries. Though there wasn’t any bad blood on set, according to costar, Claire Holt, it was still a breakup. Back then, the rumors were that Somerhalder was ready to settle down, but Dobrev wasn’t ready; a contributing factor was the age gap. These two haven’t shared a screen since and probably won’t.

Though they kept it professional for The Vampire Diaries, once Somerhalder began dating someone new, writers were tasked with keeping the two apart, just a bad case of the breakup blues.

3.

Martin Lawrence and Tisha Campbell were the IT couple in the ’90s when Martin rose to quick fame. The show is still popular today. Despite the show’s success, there was some drama between this on-screen couple that makes me believe they won’t be sharing the screen ever again.

Things turned sour on set when Campbell filed a sexual harassment suit against the actor for “repeated and escalating sexual harassment, sexual battery, verbal abuse, and related threats.” Though it was settled, Campbell would film at an entirely different time, minimizing any time they spent together. However, the two did reunite for the Martin reunion.

4.

Julia Roberts and Nick Nolte in I Love Trouble were actually trouble. These two haven’t shared a screen since 1994. Roberts did press for the upcoming movie in 1993 and referred to Nolte as “disgusting.”

They just never really got along on set, from Roberts calling him out to him doing things on set to upset her even more.

She said, “From the moment I met him, we sort of gave each other a hard time, and naturally, we get on each other’s nerves,” she said. She admitted that Nolte could be “completely charming and very nice” but added, “He’s also completely disgusting. He’s going to hate me for saying this, but he seems to go out of his way to repel people.”

5.

Blake Lively’s brief romance with Armie Hammer on-screen was supposed to last much longer on Gossip Girl. However, Hammer hinted that someone in the cast wasn’t fond of him and his previous episode agreement was cut short in an interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live After Show.

The CW

The other guest on Watch What Happens Live was Chelsea Handler, who implied that Lively was the problem. He answered, “No, no, that’s not what I’m saying,” while needing another sip of his cocktail.

6.

Jennifer Aniston and Jay Mohr’s relationship wasn’t picture perfect at all. In the movie Picture Perfect, Mohr described working with Aniston as difficult and one of the worst experiences in his career.

Though he didn’t confirm that Aniston made him cry, he later confirmed on his podcast, Mohr Stories, that she made it extremely difficult to work with him. Apparently, he wasn’t the big shot she wanted to work with, and there were other great actors up for the movie, but they didn’t get it.

7.

Selma Blair was ruthlessly fired from Anger Management after she and Charlie Sheen could not get along. This feud was very public at the time. After word got out that Sheen called Blair a “C U Next Tuesday” through text, she was given the boot after questioning his work ethic on set.

FX Networks

Charlie Sheen told The Hollywood Reporter that Blair was written out because Anger Management was in its “reboot” phase. He also said too many people were excited about their relationship. The show wasn’t supposed to be that. Blair sued Sheen and the production company for nearly $1.2 million, the amount she would’ve made on the show.

8.

Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp’s on-screen romance was just that because when the cameras went down, the two didn’t initially get along much in The Tourist. But they managed to become close friends soon and debunked the rumors. The Tourist was the last movie they worked on together.

Angelina Jolie actually warned her friend about his costar, Amber Heard, before they sparked dating rumors. The two have come a long way.

9.

Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray’s love was short-lived. After being on the classic, One Tree Hill, and their characters dating on the show, they began to date IRL. Obviously, it didn’t last as they wanted to get an annulment within a year of marriage.

The WB

No one really knows what happened between the pair, only that Bush said they never should’ve married in the first place.

10.

Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack kept it going for a while. These exes entered the reality tv show world for their HGTV show, Flip of Flop. The show remained on tv screens for nearly a decade.

Pie Town Productions

The real reason for the ending is that the former couple could not co-exist on set and weren’t happy filming any longer. Naturally, they were both ready to move on to other things. It won’t be the last time you see the two on reality TV, just not together.

11.

Gilmore Girls Lauren Graham and Scott Patterson danced around their on-screen romance for quite a while. And Graham confirmed that off-screen they weren’t the best of friends.

Dorothy Parker Drank Here Productions

When an interviewer asked if they were friends, she responded, “no.” She added, “It’s fine,” she said of their relationship. “I think these characters have a great chemistry, and that does mirror our chemistry as people. We’re not intimates.”

12.

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher opened up in an interview about how they would most likely not work together again on screen. Despite starring in the Cheetos Super Bowl ad, they rather spend time being good parents. However, if an opportunity presented itself and required an eight-hour shoot day while the kids were at school, they’d be down!

The on-screen couple starred in That ’70s Show and actually didn’t get along, maybe because Kunis lied about her age to get the role, LOL. However, the pair found themselves together and married IRL after a break-up and a divorce with different people.

13.

Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki’s The Big Bang Theory romance wasn’t just on-screen. It was also off-screen. But as the pair fizzled out, Cuoco was very showy with her new relationship at the time and the cast described her as an egomaniac.

Luckily, Cuoco and Galecki still remained great friends. Galecki said, “We’re dear friends, still. Kaley’s not just an ex, she’s a part of my life. I just don’t like to speak about it.”

14.

Penélope Cruz spoke to E! News for the screening of Loving Pablo on the on-screen romance she got to share with her husband, Javier Barden. Though the actors tied the knot in 2010, Cruz shared that she loves working with her husband, but it’s not ideal. “I love working with him, but it’s not something we want to do every year or every couple of years. Once in a while.”

The two starred in the 1992 film, Jamón Jamón. They admitted there was an immediate connection but didn’t connect until years later. They started dating in 2007 and got married in 2010. They share two children.

15.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s prankster habits didn’t impress Claire Danes on the set of Romeo & Juliet. She actually called their relationship on set “problematic.” After the 1996 film, these two haven’t shared the screen again.

20th Century Fox

Dane actually revealed that she turned down the Titanic, claiming she didn’t have it in her to film another epic romance with the actor. There’s no bad blood, but she was tired. They had just wrapped filming Romeo and Juliet. Could you imagine the 1997 film without the original Rose?
