The Hyundai IONIQ 6 has been awarded top place in three top categories at the World Car of the Year Awards, beating out other top vehicles to take the crown. The slick electric vehicle picked up World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle and World Car Design of the Year by the World Car Awards.
This is the second consecutive triple win for the Hyundai Motor Group, with the IONIQ 5 winning the same categories last year.
The IONIQ 6 is Hyundai’s flagship electric car, boasting an impressive 338-mile range, with drivers being able to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in as little as 18 to 36 minutes.
Powered by a 77.4 kWh battery, drivers can experience stellar performance, going from zero to 62mph in just 5.1 seconds.
In the overall World Car of the Year category, the Hyundai beat out 30 other cars, before finally topping the top three of the BMW X1 and Kia Niro.

Commenting on the win, Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, said he was very pleased with the win.
He added: “We are thrilled to receive this prestigious honour two years in a row, which recognizes the tremendous talents and unrelenting efforts of everyone at Hyundai Motor Company to bring EVs like IONIQ 6 to market.
“This honour reinforces our commitment to be a global leader in vehicle electrification and will serve to embolden our efforts as a smart mobility solutions provider.”
A jury of 100 distinguished automotive experts from 32 countries were on the panel to select the winners based on their evaluation of each vehicle.
The IONIQ 6 also won the World Electric Vehicle category, beating out 20 other models, before coming out on top of the BMW i7 and the Lucid Air.
SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai Global Design Centre, said: “We always want to connect with customers on an emotional level and with the design of the IONIQ 6 we have created truly one of a kind.
“The daring streamliner styling combines strong emotional appeal with aerodynamic efficiency to give exceptional range.
“Inside, we set out to create a personal studio which offers the mindful space and calm functionality which, we believe, elevates EV design.”

While drivers will have to wait an average of seven months to pick up a new vehicle, this is not as long as other popular models like the Kia EV6, Audi Q4 e-tron and MG ZS EV.
Having also taken home the prize for Design of the Year, Hyundai were keen to show off the slick sedan. Its sweeping design pays homage to the iconic streamlined vehicles of the 1920s and 30s.
The Lucid Air won World Luxury Car, having been described as the “longest range, fastest charging luxury car in the world”.
The American-designed and manufactured electric car has a maximum power of more than 1,200 horsepower and can go from zero to 60mph in under two seconds.
With a staggering range of 516 miles, the Lucid Air can charge 200 miles worth of range in just 12 minutes. In the US, prices start from $77,400 (£62,313).
It made its first UK appearance in 2022 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with sales already being seen across North America and selected European markets.
