“Oppenheimer” Actually Has A Historical Inaccuracy, And It’s Pretty Glaring

Oppenheimer Historical Error
As you know, Oppenheimer — the critically acclaimed film about the scientist who helped develop the atomic bomb — debuted at the box office this weekend.
It’s been a huge hit so far.
But, there was one historical inaccuracy people pointed out. During one scene, Oppenheimer stands in front of a crowd of people in Los Alamos — which is where “Project Y,” aka the atomic bomb project, was developed.
The scene, which takes place in 1945, shows people in the crowd waving flags that have 50 stars.
Problem is: This 50-star flag was not a thing until 1959 when then-president Eisenhower officially established it with Executive Order 10834.
Either way, Oppenheimer is being called a near-perfect film by critics and already garnering Oscar buzz. So history buffs can stay mad.
