How fast charging works right now
According to the report, the new technology by the Chinese OEM would improve the present highest fast charging speed by about 20 percent. At present, the highest charging speed offered in the market today is by BBK Electronics brand, IQOO. The latter, on its flagship smartphone IQOO 10 Pro, offers 200W fast charging speed with the device. The latter can therefore charge a device from zero to 100 percent within 12 minutes.
Now, according to Digital Chat Station on Chinese social media platform Weibo, a Chinese OEM is working on a mobile charging adapter with 24V, 10A charger – capable of delivering 240W fast charging speeds. According to speculations, the OEM in question could be IQOO’s fellow BBK Electronics brand OPPO, who in February this year showcased 240W fast charging speeds that can charge a 4,500mAh battery within just nine minutes.
Mainstream fast charging speeds have improved significantly, and most of it is already available in production itself. For instance, with the Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge smartphone, the company introduced 120W fast charging speed – which could charge a 4,500mAh phone battery within just over 15 minutes. However, the new charging speed is tipped to double the fast charging speed – which in turn could reduce the time taken to charge a 4,500mAh battery by nearly half.
However, it remains to be seen how such technologies affect the longevity of the battery stamina of a smartphone. More details should come through soon, since 240W fast charging speed could become the highlight feature of a smartphone.
