Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Diane Youdale confessed she went five years without seeing her fellow Gladiators after her 1996 exit.
When asked if she’d stayed in touch with her co-stars after the series ended, the Jet star explained: “When the show ended, I needed to kind of do a decompression for about four to five years because straight on the back of the show for me, I left through an injury.”
She continued: “I went off to university and did psychotherapy – [it was] long training, because it is a long training course and so it should be.
“So I needed to kind of distance myself from it, but now we usually have a catch-up at Comic-Con, so there’s like four or five of us who had been invited to meet people that are Comic-Con, and they’re so funny.”
Diane continued: “We just went out for a meal afterwards, and it’s wonderful because we all look at each other, we remember the stories and the anecdotes and the funny bits and we just kind of look at each other and go, ‘It was a really rare experience to do what we did.’
“It’s not often people can say they were Gladiators!”
Talking about the fame and recognition the show brought her, the 53-year-old added: “I wouldn’t have done the show for the fame.
“I’ve been very comfortable with being an athlete really, from an early age.
