DUBAI, 5th July, 2023 (WAM) — The UAE will participate in the 42nd General Assembly meetings of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), scheduled to be held in the Thai capital, Bangkok, on Saturday.
Osama Al Shafar, Vice President of the International Cycling Union (UCI) and President of the Asian Cycling Confederation, will head the Emirati delegation, which will include Mohammed Saeed bin Darwish, Executive Director of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), and Butti Al Abdouli, President of Sports Federations Affairs at the NOC.
The agenda of the OCA General Assembly will include the election of a new council for2023-2027, following the end of the previous council’s term under the presidency of Sheikh Ahmed Al Fahad Al Sabah, including the election of the council’s president, secretary-general, heads of working committees, and the five vice presidents.
Al Shafar submitted his candidacy for the position of OCA Vice President representing the West Asia region based on his extensive local and international sports background and experience.
