Oscars 2022: Here’s everything we know so far about this year’s awards

One of the highlights of award season each year is undoubtedly the Oscars – and we’re full of anticipation for what the Oscars 2022 will bring.

While the ceremony and nominations for the 94th Oscars are still to come, speculation is rife as to who will win big this year. Last year, we saw Chloé Zhao’s Nomadland – all about a van-dwelling working nomad – take home the Best Director, Best Actress (kudos to Frances McDormand) and Best Picture awards.

Daniel Kaluuya also won his second Oscar and Carey Mulligan and Emerald Fennell’s Promising Young Woman won the accolade for Best Original Screenplay.

What’s more, it’s recently been announced that the Oscars 2022 will have a host for the first time in four years. Here’s everything else we know so far.

When will the Oscars 2022 nominations be announced?

They will be announced on 8 February 2022, as voting for the nominations are scheduled to happen from 27 January until 1 February.

When will the Oscars 2022 ceremony be?

It will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on 27 March, which is slightly later than usual.

The date has been pushed back to avoid a clash with the Winter Olympics, which will take place in Beijing.

What are the hottest predictions for the biggest Oscars 2022 awards?

Variety has made many predictions for who will win what – top of the charts is Belfast, a coming-of-age film starring Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench and Jamie Dornan.

Also look out for Steven Spielberg’s take on West Side Story, Lady Gaga’s performance in House of Gucci, Dune – which has the most stellar of casts, including and not limited to Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya – and Licorice Pizza, which contains musician Alana Haim’s acting debut.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home and the latest Bond instalment No Time To Die have also been tipped for Oscars glory.

Who will present Oscars 2022?

No news on who is set to present as of yet, but we shall keep you posted.

Spider-Man himself Tom Holland was rumoured to be taking the reins, but has recently told The Hollywood Reporter that, even though he’d love to he’s “too busy right now”. “I don’t have the time,” he said, but added that he’d be up for doing it in the future.

Where will I be able to watch the Oscars 2022 ceremony?

It’s not been confirmed yet, but in previous years the Oscars ceremony has been available to watch on Hulu (if you’re in the US) or the Sky Cinema Oscars channel.
