‘Our Tsonga girl’: High praise for Miss SA 2022, Ndavi Nokeri

Ndavi Nokeri was crowned Miss South Africa 2022 at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria on Saturday 13 August. Miss South Africa 2021 and Miss Supranational 2022, Lalela Mswane, handed over the stunning uBuhle crown to the Limpopo native at the glitzy pageant. Minutes after she was crowned, Nokeri shot to the top of Twitter’s trending list.

NDAVI NOKERI CROWNED MISS SOUTH AFRICA 2022 

The Miss South Africa pageant on 13 August kicked off on a high note with performances from rappers Nadia Nakai, Boity and Rouge and R&B star Elaine. The glamorous top 10 contestants were introduced to the country and the event was underway! 

After strutting her stuff in the swimwear and evening gown sections and the tough question sections, Ndavi Nokeri was officially crowned Miss South Africa 2022. Ayanda Thabethe from Maritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal will be Nokeri’s runner-up. If Nokeri cannot fulfil her duties, Thabethe will step in.

Nokeri is the third Miss South Africa winner from Limpopo behind Bokang Montjane and Shudufhazo Musida. 

TWITTER PRAISES NDAVI NOKERI 

Taking to social media, Ndavi Nokeri was praised by South African tweeps following her Miss South Africa win. 

“Congratulations to our newly crowned her majesty Ndavi Nokeri. Being Miss South Africa makes you a spokesperson and ambassador for a lot of things. Therefore rise and share the light with all the girls out there,” wrote one tweep. 

“Ndavi Nokeri just raised the bar for everybody’s whose from Tzaneen,” wrote another tweep. 

“Our Tsonga girl, so proud.”

“I’m proud to say congratulations to our Miss SA 2022, I’m so inspired.”

MISS SA 2022 ACCEPTANCE SPEECH 

In her acceptance speech, Ndavi Nokeri said she was grateful for the opportunity to present South Africa globally. 

“For a girl from Gabaza to be seen, embraced and chosen to represent her country is a groundbreaking moment. A moment that reaffirms that our dreams are valid, regardless of where we come from.”

“I am grateful for the women who have gone before me who broke the glass ceiling so I could stand here today empowered, fulfilled and ready to proudly raise the South African flag high everywhere I go and to shine the light of hope to all South Africans,” she said.
