To celebrate the new Macrene Actives Skyros Collection, the first-ever body care line from Manhattan’s most in-demand dermatologist, Macrene Alexiades, MD, guests gathered at Avra Madison for an on-theme Greek dinner.
The collection, consisting of a cream and a lotion, is formulated entirely from ingredients native to the island of Skyros, Greece, where Alexiades spends part of the year. The clean and vegan formulas, containing 38 actives, are scientifically proven and dermatologist-tested to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while also brightening and hydrating the skin.
Sienna Miller, who hosted the evening, is one of the many fans of the skin-care guru: “You go to Hollywood, and everybody looks the same, but Macrene understands the importance of actually preserving who you are and your own character,” she said. Miller then went on to praise Alexiades for her background in plant science and her use of Grecian botanicals in the collection, which utilizes medicinal teas consumed on Skyros.
Alexiades also welcomed her guests with remarks and explained how the line was dreamed up five years ago, at the suggestion of Vogue’s Beauty Director, Celia Ellenberg, who sat nearby. “We were at a dinner in the West Village in the middle of a blizzard, and we conceived of this idea of me capitalizing on my plant science background,” Alexiades recalled.
Among those in attendance were Brooke Shields, Wendi Murdoch, Cassandra Grey, Lauren Santo Domingo, Huma Abedin, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, Dylan Lauren, and Dinos Konstantinou, Consul General of Greece. All enjoyed Greek dishes, cocktails, and wines before hurrying home to test out the new products for themselves.
