Oversized denim jackets are the ultimate trans-seasonal cover-up that will supercharge your wardrobe

We’ve been racking our brains and seriously, we can’t think of any outfit that wouldn’t be improved with the addition of one of our edit of oversized denim jackets. Obvs, they are an essential weekend option, slung over your favourite black leggings, but they also bring edge to smart tailoring. Oversized denim jackets ground any sexy Out Out outfits and add a twist to pretty dresses. We love a classic denim jacket but it’s the slouchier shapes that are chiming with our new season style.

Right now, playing with proportions is one of the boldest trends around. On the catwalk at Chloe, Khaite, Off-White and Burberry denim went supersized for autumn 2023 and for spring/summer, the street style set are all rocking baggy jeans. Bigger is certainly better when it comes to all things denim. But any change in silhouette or shape is harder to get used to than a trend switch that focuses on colour, or texture. So, if you’re wondering how to style oversized denim jackets, may we suggest that it’s all in the mix. Start by slipping a shirt under one of these jackets and adding leggings and trainers. Or choose a crop top to go with the jacket then team with straight-leg trousers or jeans. It’s that blend of different shapes and sizes which will make your outfit look styled, without any extra effort on your part. Then when you’ve mastered the mix, take it up to catwalk levels and wear your oversized jacket with baggy jeans or a floor sweeping maxi skirt and turn the volume up all over.
