Quite naturally, the five players were the star attraction in the match. Notably, the Indian team in the competition features no such player. No player in the Indian team has played in the senior men’s cricket team.
However, not all the five senior international cricketers could live up to the expectation. Here’s how they performed.
Avishka Fernando: The 25-year-old opener has featured in 29 ODIs and 33 T20Is for Sri Lanka. He kept his team afloat after the top-order collapse which saw Sri Lanka getting reduced to 33/3. The right-hander hit 97 off just 85 balls and gave Pakistan a major scare.
Minod Bhanuka: Top-order batter Mindo Bhanuka, who has played 1 Test, six ODIs and 5 T20Is for Sri Lanka, failed to impress in the high-octane match. He was dismissed for one off eight balls.
Pramod Madushan: The 29-year-old pacer has played just one ODI till date for Sri Lanka in June last year against Australia. In the semi-final match against Pakistan A on Friday, he bowled 10 overs for 56 runs and two wickets. He picked the wicket of Pakistan’s top-scorer in the match Omair Yousuf who was looking very dangerous.
Mohammad Haris: The Pakistan A captain has played five ODIs and 9 T20Is for the senior team. The very talented cricketer scored 52 runs off 43 balls and played a pivotal role in helping his team to post a massive 322-run total. Later, he also executed a perfect stumping to send Avishka packing.
Mohammad Wasim Jr: Pakistan white-ball star Mohammad Wasim Jr has played a total of 2 Tests, 14 ODIs and 27 T20Is. His first seven overs in the match saw him give away 47 runs without any wicket. With the bat, the 21-year-old right-hander walked in at nine and smashed 24 off 17 balls including one four and two sixes.
