England icon Andrew Strauss believes that Pakistan can go all the way and win the World Cup this year.
They are currently 33-1 against the Netherlands, looking to make a positive start to the tournament.
Speaking on the In The Zone podcast, Strauss said: “Ironically, Pakistan don’t have many good spin options and they play slightly too conservatively for my liking, so I just feel like Australia will come through. I actually think New Zealand will join them as the fourth team in the semi-finals.
“They are easily underrated, have a great captain and are very good all-rounders. It wouldn’t surprise me if Pakistan get into the semis, but we know that they generally struggle with consistency.”
“There will be one or two upsets as this tournament goes on, with the pitches getting harder and harder to play on as well. That’s a great leveller between teams also, but I really would not put it past Pakistan to get to the semi’s and then go all the way and win it.
“The challenge for them is to show consistency through the group stage to win the six games you need to get to the semi-finals.”
