Palo Alto: Clay & Glass Festival returns July 9-10

Palo Alto: Clay & Glass Festival returns July 9-10

It’s back to a summertime show for the long-running ACGA Clay & Glass Festival.

On July 9-10, more than 100 juried artists will converge on the grounds of the Palo Alto Art Center and present both fine art and functional pieces — including jewelry, pottery, glassware, sculptures and garden art.

Cheryl Costantini, president of the ACGA board, said artists are emerging after the challenging pandemic years. In 2020, the event was forced to pivot to an online-only show, and in 2021, ACGA presented a socially distanced outdoor show in September instead of the usual height-of-summer time slot.

“For many artists that I know, Covid has offered an opportunity to deepen their creative process. I believe we are a resilient bunch,” she said in announcing the 2022 event, the association’s 29th annual. “We hope our customers return to continue to support our ACGA artists.”

Founded as the Association of San Francisco Potters in 1945, the ACGA now boasts more than 300 members, including artists, students, galleries and patrons of the arts.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, with food trucks onsite both days. Admission is free. Street parking is available near the venue, or attendees can pull up and use the valet service for a fee.

Details: 1313 Newell Road, Palo Alto. The art may be previewed online at www.clayglassfestival.com.
