More than 100 Northern California artists will converge on the Peninsula this weekend for the 30th annual ACGA Clay & Glass Festival.
The July 15-16 event, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days on the grounds of the Palo Alto Art Center, will feature fine art and functional pieces — including jewelry, pottery, glassware, sculptures and garden art. Live demonstrations and a kid-friendly “Clay for All” activity are planned.
Admission and activities are free. Food trucks will be onsite both days.
“For 30 years, ACGA artists have brought their finest clay and glass creations to Palo Alto, and we are so appreciative of our customers’ past patronage,” said Mari Emori, ACGA board president, in announcing the event. “We invite everyone to come celebrate with us. It’s a great time to shop for home and family while supporting our California artists.”
Founded as the Association of San Francisco Potters in 1945, the ACGA now boasts more than 300 members, including artists, students, galleries and patrons of the arts. The array of juried artists displaying at the festival will include 18 participating for the first time.
Demos and seminars are scheduled on such topics as pottery forms, throwing techniques, glass blowing, ikebana flower arranging and garden vessels and totems.
The interactive Clay for All activity will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days in the courtyard, with clay and tools provided.
Details: 1313 Newell Road, Palo Alto, with a cooling station located inside the Art Center Auditorium. Street parking is available near the venue, or attendees can pull up and use the valet service for a fee. Find the list of artists at www.clayglassfestival.com.
