Paris Hilton’s most iconic looks from the Noughties

There is only one Paris Hilton. That’s a truth we’ve known since she first emerged on the scene in 2001, taking the New York Fashion Week catwalk by storm, and later cementing her socialite turned global celebrity status in reality show The Simple Life, alongside pal Nicole Richie.

Her looks during her ascent to worldwide recognition don’t just epitomise Noughties fashion – more accurately, they pioneered it. From the iconic chainmail dress she wore for her 21st birthday celebration to the hipbone-skimming tracksuit bottoms and mahusive sunglasses that she donned for her off-duty days, any millennial worth their salt will remember attempting to copy at least one look inspired by the Hilton heiress. Lest we forget this is the woman for whom Kim Kardashian served as a dedicated personal assistant.

Why are we bringing this up now? Well, fashion is – as our mums always told us – cyclical, and it is clear that so many of Paris’ looks have made their way back around in the past year or two, with her halter-tops and micro-minis embodying the risque-er end of what’s in style right now. But that’s not all, because unless you’ve been living in a cage for the past couple of years you’ll be well aware Paris has made a triumphant return to the spotlight. After devoting the best part of a decade (from 2012 to 2019) to her DJing career, Paris returned to the limelight with a YouTubes Originals, released in 2020, that shed the light on her personal and professional life, providing a much more intimate look at the star’s highs and considerable lows.

More recently, she married Carter Reus in a star-studded ceremony (attended by former BFF Kim, who was spotted fluffing up her Oscar de la Renta gown) in 2021, and has this year given birth (in January) to the couple’s first child, a son. But don’t think the developments in her personal life mean this is the end to Paris’ style leader status – she’s recently launched her own range of Y2K throwback rhinestone studded tracksuits, available on her own website, for those who want to create her trademark comfy look. As the icon herself would say, “That’s hot”.

Now, let’s take a look back at her most sensational looks for the Noughties:
