Paul and Fury’s drug test results released after Saudi showdown

Jake Paul and Tommy Fury have both passed pre-fight drug tests after their long-awaited grudge match last month. The pair underwent rigorous testing from the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) prior to the contest.

VADA recently confirmed the news on Twitter, writing: “Congratulations to @tommytntfury @jakepaul for successfully completing @vada_testing through their February 2023 bout.”

Fury defeated Paul via split decision when they met at the Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia after nearly two years of waiting. The Brit remained in relative control throughout the contest, keeping Paul at bay with a sharp jab and nimble footwork.

When Paul began to close the distance and get in on the inside of his adversary’s monster 80-inch reach, Fury smothered the American’s punches with effective clinch work.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing for Tyson Fury’s brother who had his fair share of rocky moments, particularly in the eighth round when he was sent tumbling to the canvas by a stiff jab from the American. Paul and Fury are now expected to rematch later this year with the former affirming that he intends to activate the rematch clause in their contract.

Initial reports from esteemed boxing insider Mike Coppinger claim that organisers are aiming for a date in July. However, Tommy’s father John told Express Sport this week that the second fight will likely take place at the back end of 2023.

“It depends on what they want to do, but at the moment, Tommy’s put a hard training camp in. We spent 10 weeks in camps, one, two months ready. So, you know, it’s probably going to be later on in the year,” he told Express Sport via Free Bets.

“I’ve not spoke to people connected to either, you know, so I think Jake Paul’s having a rest, just like we are, and his team and his people, we’ll be on it in due course. We’ve not spoken about anything yet.”
