Konchesky has led West Ham into mid-table of the WSL this season with five games remaining. It is his first step into management after spells as a coach in the club’s academy as well as assistant at Billericay.
Speaking in 2015, he admitted his wish was to go into coaching but was pleased to have another opening in terms of his cafe. Konchesky added: “You have to change with the times. Sports science is the way forward. I’d like to play for three or four more years.
“I’m not saying I’ll be at the top but I’d like to play on maybe until I’m 38. To do that I’ve got to work hard and keep in shape.
“When I finish, I will take my coaching qualifications. I’m not sure yet if I’ll go down that route but I’ll look at it. I always wanted a coffee shop or a sandwich shop. Then this came up. So I thought, why not?”
