EUROPEAN TRANSFER NEWS ROUND-UP: All the big names are making the headlines ahead of the summer transfer window, with Paul Pogba, Lionel Messi, Gareth Bale, Manchester United, Juventus and Chelsea all involved

Paul Pogba has been given a lucrative offer by Juventus

Decisive matches are being played around Europe, and decisive meetings between clubs and agents are being held to determine the future of the biggest name players.

Today’s round up from the European newspapers has news of Paul Pogba, Gareth Bale, Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele.

Pogba’s Italian job

Paul Pogba is being offered €9m a season to move to Juventus, and the Italian giants are confident of sealing a deal with Manchester United.

They have met with Pogba’s lawyers in four hours of talks before their game against Lazio. Journalist Alfredo Pedulla has reported on the meeting and says it was positive. Juve could end up banking on Pogba’s history with Turin because PSG’s contract offer will be higher.

Stars and stripes for Messi

Lionel Messi will do one more season at PSG before quitting Europe and heading for Miami.

The 34-year-old is being lured to the US by the prospect of taking a 35pc franchise stake in Inter Miami. According to DirecTV, Messi already has the contract for the deal drawn up to be signed when his PSG contract ends in June 2023. Two years ago Messi said he wanted to experience life in the United States and has had a luxury pad in South Beach for three years.

Bale to bow out

Wales legend Gareth Bale is quitting Real Madrid this summer.

That may come as no surprise after the winger’s treatment in Spain, and being frozen out of first team starting action. But his agent Jonathan Barnett has confirmed Bale leaves when his contract at the Bernabeu expires, but says his next move depends on whether Wales qualify for the World Cup.

Could that mean a move to the US, retirement, or a short term deal in Europe? Record in Portugal quote Barnett as saying: “Gareth is leaving Real Madrid, but we have to wait for what Wales do. It all depends on whether his national team qualifies for the World Cup, then we will make a decision, which may vary if Wales go to the World Cup or not.”

Dembele heading for Germany

Premier League target Ousmane Dembele is talking to Bayern Munich about a free transfer and is also negotiating with PSG and Barcelona, according to L’Equipe.

German tabloid Bild confirm Bayern want Dembele and have looked at a move for a year, and wanted to see how he fared after his injury. Julian Nagelsman has analysed the player and “wants to work with him.”

Barca in for Polish great

The future of Robert Lewandowski is up for grabs, but the 33-year-old is only seeing Chelsea as a back up option.

The Bayern Munich striker’s agent Pini Zahavi is “prioritising” a switch to Barcelona, with PSG also left on the sidelines for now. There are doubts over whether Barca can afford a €60m deal.
