Paul Pogba is ready to perform a stunning U-turn and commit his future to Manchester United, as long as Ralf Rangnick remains in charge next season.

The Red Devils had been resigned to losing the France international on a free in the summer, amid interest from Barcelona and Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Pogba has endured another difficult season at Old Trafford and hasn’t featured since a 2-2 draw against Atalanta in the Champions League back in November.

Rangnick replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer soon after that result and although Pogba hasn’t played a single minute under the German so far due to injury, The Sun claim the World Cup winner has been so impressed with the 63-year-old’s work that he is ready to reassess his future.

The former Juventus star is said to have held numerous talks with the former Red Bull Leipzig chief and has been enthused by his long-term plans for a club which has floundered in recent years.

Initially, the plan had been for Rangnick to take up a consultancy role come the end of the season with United having identified Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag as potential long-term successors to Solskjaer.

But reports earlier this week claimed that such has been the progress Rangnick has made behind the scenes, that United have paused their search for a new manager, believing they might already have the best man for the job at the helm

Pogba, meanwhile, is expected to be in contention to make his United comeback at Burnley on February 8 and Rangnick has already spoken enthusiastically about the prospect of the 28-year-old returning to the team.

‘Well it was the first training session yesterday after two-and-a-half months of injury and in this training session he showed, in every moment, when we played 6v6 or whatever we did in the rondos, that he’s an extraordinary player and that he can give a lot of positive input into the team if he’s fully focused,’ Rangnick said earlier this month.

‘I had a long conversation with him for more than an hour after the training session, a very good conversation. He committed himself until the end of the season.

‘He explained to me that he wants to be the best possible Paul Pogba that he can be.’
