Fans are outraged by the recently released Jake Paul vs Anderson Silva pay-per-view price. The event will cost American fans £53.10 ($59.99) to watch live on Showtime PPV.
Paul (5-0) looks set to make his sixth professional outing after a frustrating ten months on October 29 at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, United States. The Problem Child has had two opponent changes and a cancelled event since December 2021.
Paul was set back by two pull-outs from fierce rival Tommy Fury – the first in December due to a broken rib and the second in August after being denied entry to the United States. The replacement opponent for the latter, Hasim Rahman Jr, was unable to make the agreed weight, leading to his most recent event being cancelled one week out from the fight.
He now faces off against former UFC middleweight champion Silva in his toughest test to date. Despite being 47 years old, The Spider has shown glimpses of his former self since making the transition to professional boxing.
@spacecadet3225 said: “60 bucks ???? f*** out of here.”
@BigCountry2389 concluded: “This literally made me laugh out loud, can’t wait to hear the excuses about ticket and ppv sales after this one lol.”
Paul has made no secret of his admiration for Silva having grown up watching the living legend as a kid but now he must put all of that aside and square off against his childhood hero in the ring.
“I signed up for the hardest sport in the world and I love it. That’s what I’m built for, and I love a challenge,” he said. “I grew up idolizing (Silva). For me this is even surreal that I’m even sitting here, I need to take a moment to be like, ‘Is this real with all the cameras?’ I was sitting on a couch watching this guy as a kid and here we are.”
