After Rilee Rossouw’s unbeaten 82 off 37 ball powered DC to 213 for 2 in 20 overs, despite an onslaught from Liam Livingstone of 94 from 48 balls PBKS could manage to reach only 198 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Apart from Livingstone, Atharva Taide, who was forced to retire out, scored 55 off 42 balls for PBKS. Prabhsimran Singh and Sam Curran also made small contributions with the bat for the hosts.
Khaleel Ahmed, Ishant Sharma, Anrich Nortje and Axar Patel were all among wickets for DC, who were sloppy in the field with dropped catches and missed run out chances, but that did not cost them in the end as they registered their fifth win of the season.
Earlier, put into bat, Prithvi Shaw (54 off 38 balls) and skipper David Warner (46 off 31 balls) got DC off to a fast start, sharing a 94-run stand before Rossouw joined the former in the middle for another 54-run stand.

Following Shaw’s departure, Rossouw shared an unbeaten 65-run stand with Phil Salt, who smashed 26 not out off 14 balls to take DC past 200 in the final over that saw Harpreet Brar concede 23 runs.
For Punjab Kings, Sam Curran was the lone wicket-taker as the most expensive player of the Indian Premier League picked up the two and the only wickets in the innings.
A total of 24 sixes were struck during the match with Rossouw (6 sixes) and Livingstone (9 sixes) dominating the big-hitting. Livingstone also hit one over the roof in the closing moments of the match, but his knock went in vain.
With the win, DC moved to ninth position on IPL 2023 points table with 10 points after thirteen matches, while PBKS remained in eighth with 12 points from 13 matches and are very likely out of the playoff race although they are mathematically still alive.

PBKS vs DC IPL 2023 Match 64 Post Match Comments
Losing captain, Shikhar Dawan said: “It was frustrating. We didn’t bowl well in the first six overs, we should have taken some wickets. It’s a close game, but can’t help it.”
On no ball giving hope and bowling, Dhawan added: “There was hope after that no ball, Livi played a great knock. I fell my decision to bowl spin off the last year backfired. Our bowlers didn’t pitch the ball up in the powerplay. We should bowl at the right areas and we couldn’t do that.”
On powerplay performance, Dhawan said: “Every powerplay, we have been giving 50-60 runs. We knew that it’d swing for 1-2 overs. We lost the first wicket in the 2nd over and the 1st over was also a maiden – we lost six balls there.”
Winning captain Warner said: “Pretty bad fielding performance. We backed our strengths. Playing on a nice wicket helped. Was pretty challenging at home.
“The impact Prithvi had was nice to see. Rilee Rossouw played well as well. We needed some consistency at our home venue. We haven’t been able to work out a total at home. Great to get the points tonight.”
Player of the match, Rossouw said: “Thanks to the support staff. Chuffed that I could perform for the team. As Davey mentioned was a good wicket. Davey put up a good partnership at the top. I enjoyed some momentum coming in.”
On match going down to the wire and Livingstone’s knock, Rossouw added: “Just shows that this game is not over till the last ball is bowled. Exceptional innings from Liam.”
