Writer and creator Steven Knight has offered an update on the Peaky Blinders movie. As reported by Variety, Knight revealed that the movie will begin filming in 2023 while speaking at BFI London Film Festival.
Knight said, “I am going to write the feature which will be set in and shot in Birmingham. And that will probably be the sort of the end of the road for ‘Peaky Blinders’ as we know it.” Peaky Blinders season 6 will be last season of the series. The final season is already shot and has almost finished editing. It is expected to release sometime in 2022. The sixth season of Peaky Blinders is written by Knight and directed by Anthony Byrne. Nick Goding has produced the show’s final season.
The creator has previously talked about the Peaky Blinders movie and said, “I think it’s going to be a fitting conclusion to the story told so far, but from it, there will be things I don’t really call spinoffs, but there will be other TV shows that I hope will come out of [it], that will continue to tell the story of this part of society and this family.”
Knight revealed that the story of Peaky Blinders could be continued with “shows related” to its universe. However, Knight will not be supervising these projects and he would rather choose to “pass on the baton.” Details regarding the Peaky Blinders spinoffs aren’t revealed yet.
