Perth cinema’s bizarre release ahead of Cocaine Bear flick

Hitting cinemas this week, the wild comedy Cocaine Bear is as cooked and chaotic as the true story it’s based on.

Inspired by the true story of a drug runner’s trip gone wrong in the 80’s, the comedy follows a drug lord who accidentally dropped 35 kilos of white stuff in a forest after a plane crash.

It’s part comedy and all-round adrenaline pumping as a group of cops, criminals, tourists, and teens converge in a forest in the US state of Georgia, where a 250-kilogram apex predator has ingested a staggering amount of cocaine and gone on a coke-fuelled rampage.

To celebrate, you can now grab a special edition ‘coco bear choc bombs’ at the candy bar at Luna Cinemas in Leederville.

In a clever strategy to promote the movie, bear footprints within white powder puddles have been spotted in popular locations around Australia. Apparently, the bear paw marks have been spotted in Bondi, Fortitude Valley, the Melbourne CBD, and the Gold Coast.

Directed by Elizabeth Banks from a screenplay by Jimmy Warden, The film stars Ray Liotta, in his last movie before he passed away.

Cocaine Bear also stars Keri Russell (The Americans), O’Shea Jackson, Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Christian Convery-Jennings (Sweet Tooth), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family).
