Back when they were 17, Laura Thorpe and Daniel Steddy went on a school ski trip to Melbourne that would seal their fate. The teens, who attended different schools, officially met in the spa of the ski resort and sparks flew. The couple have been inseparable ever since and recently tied the knot with a befitting theme — Bridgerton meets modern fairytale.
When and where
The couple exchanged vows in front of 50 of their nearest and dearest at the charming Caversham House on December 3, 2021. The renaissance gardens, with a four-storey waterfall, hand-carved statues and sandstone balustrade, wouldn’t look out of place on the popular Netflix regency romance series on which the theme of their wedding was based.
Dress
Laura’s princess-style dress from Brides Selection was fashioned using a floral-beaded lace and layers of smokey tulle.
Honeymoon
The newlyweds headed to Broome, where Daniel popped the question. While it was a romantic getaway, the couple had just bought their first home together, so were filling in mortgage forms while sipping cocktails by the pool.
