Perth OnlyFans star hints at return of raunchy billboard

A controversial OnlyFans model has hinted to local councils across the State that her raunchy larger-than-life-size billboard ad could make a return after one of Perth’s biggest local governments tightened its advertising signs policy this week.

“I find that it’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission,” OnlyFans content creator Savannah said. “So if and when I do decide to start putting billboards again, no one will know until it is already done.”

Her billboard ad in Osborne Park which helped her rake in over half a million dollars — rocked the news cycle in April when people complained to the City of Stirling it was inappropriate.

Your local paper, whenever you want it.

The controversy was that her $7700 commissioned billboard promoted her over 18 adult channel ‘WC Savage’ and revealed her cleavage, Instagram handle and QR code to her OF page.

It was met with upset neighbours and resulted in 70 printed pages of complaints to Ad Standards Australia. A petition was also launched by a Perth mother-of-four to take the “porn billboard” down — there were over 6500 signatures in support.

After a back-and-forth battle the city agreed on Tuesday to update its by-laws to ensure future content of advertising signs and the services or products advertised — are not discriminatory or offensive and that it meets community standards.

Savannah told PerthNow the new policy was a direct attack on free speech and on women’s agency over their bodies.

“A local council being able to let their bias determine which business can advertise in a manner which they decide — not only attacks tax-paying businesses but goes against their ability to employ a freedom of speech against censorship,” she said.

“The attack on women and their bodies is as old as the human race itself and they are still perpetuating it in any way they can. It disgusts me.”

Community concerns at the time piled pressure on the city to remove the signage but it was the city’s planning framework that did not allow that to happen after changes were made in February this year.

This was the removal of the provision — that signage “not contain any discriminatory or offensive material”.

“Firstly, in the 12 years the policy had been in effect, there had been no instances where the city was required to take action in relation to the content of signs,” the report said.

“Secondly, regulation of signage control in Australia operates through a self-regulation process established by the Australian Association of National Advertisers.”

“For these reasons, the policy provision was considered unnecessary as it was considered capable of regulation through the AANA.”

Although later on it was the same regulatory body which concluded that Savannah’s ad did not employ sexual appeal in a manner which is “exploitative” or “degrading” and therefore did not breach a section of the code of ethics.

The city’s updated policy passed this week introduces increased requirements for third-party signage including the need for a ‘signage strategy’ and greater control of the advertising of “certain products and services”.

This is supplemented by imposing a condition of development approval on future signage — allowing the city to have a greater say before a billboard goes up.

“Signs must not contain any discriminatory, offensive, obscene or vulgar material including, but not limited to, adult-only related industries,” the report said.

But Savannah says the city “should stay in their own lane” and that it was censorship gone too far.

“If a picture of myself in a bikini is the worst thing we see today, we should consider ourselves lucky as there are people all over the world experiencing actual hardship and horrible incidents daily,” she said.

“We should be grateful that me in a bikini at the beach is all we have to complain about.”

After Ad Standards handed down its decision in May to dismiss hundreds of complaints — an independent reviewer was launched but that too was later dismissed.

Savannah’s OnlyFans subscription grew from 1000 to 11,300 followers since the ad was first put up.
