It won’t quite break the record but Perth motorists are set to feel serious pain at the bowser as the average price of fuel soars again.
Motorists in Perth and Mandurah will be slugged $2.10 cents for every litre of fuel purchased from 6am Wednesday.
FuelWatch is urging motorists to fill their tanks on Tuesday to beat the price hike, which will see the average litre of petrol rise by 23c overnight.
BP service stations will be the most expensive across the city on Wednesday, slugging drivers $2.28 per litre on average.
The figure is 40c higher than what the retailer is charging people on Tuesday.
Coles Express ($2.21), Caltex Woolworths ($2.20), Ampol ($2.20) and Puma ($2.19) will also be among the most expensive fuel stations in the metropolitan area.
Perth’s record high of 212.9 cents per litre was set in late March, prior to the Morrison Government’s fuel excise cut filtering through to customers.
“Despite the average hike tomorrow, there are still 30 individual sites offering prices below 185 cents per litre, so consumers should check the FuelWatch website to find the lowest price near them,” a FuelWatch spokesman said.
“Buying fuel from the cheapest site rather than the most expensive, a difference of 45cpl, means motorists can potentially save $27on a 60 litre tank.”
